School Uniform requirements:

(All clothing should be clearly named)

Bottle green sweatshirt/cardigan/fleece (Year 6 - plain black items)
Gold polo shirt
Grey trousers, skirt or pinafore
(Green gingham checked/dress- summer, if desired)
White socks or green/grey tights with skirt, pinafore or tunic dress
Black or grey socks with trousers
Black shoes (not trainers)

PE Kit

(This should be kept in a bag on their classroom coat peg for the duration of each half-term.)

White polo shirt (or black and green sports top with school logo)
Plain green or black shorts
Black plimsolls/trainers for outdoor sports
Bottle green tracksuit/jogging bottoms for cold weather
Optional green fleece

In line with the statutory guidance to school on the cost of school uniforms, our school is committed to ensuring that items with a school logo are not the only option for parents to buy for their children to wear at Great Bentley Primary School. Plain items of the stipulated colour are welcomed, as well as items with a logo. Second Hand uniform is available through the school PTA, and displayed in the school foyer on a hanging rail. Items can be purchased for a suggested voluntary donation of £2 per item.

Please note that in the interests of health and safety the following will not be accepted in school:

Earrings, including studs*
No jewellery
No make-up
No nail varnish

*The school is required to comply with the Essex County Council Health and Safety policy for PE. In this policy it clearly states that ALL jewellery must be removed for PE, including pierced earrings. Please note that for Health and Safety reasons, earrings or other jewellery (unless on religious grounds) should not be worn during school hours. Watches are allowed but should also be removed for PE lessons. Earring sleeper studs, if worn, must be removed before the children can take part in PE/Games sessions. It is helpful if children remove them before coming to school on PE days.

A change in the Essex Policy now states that children can no longer cover the studs with Micropore tape or plasters for PE.
